The leading Springtime event for modern and contemporary
art in Paris. Held in the Grand Palais from 31st March to 3rd April 2016, Art Paris Art Fair is the leading event in the Spring art calendar of the French capital, bringing together some 145 galleries from a score of different countries.
Open to all forms of artistic expression including design, Art Paris Art Fair offers a broad vision of art from the post-war period to the present day while the thematic sectors focus on discovery. The exhibitions in Solo Show present an in-depth look at the work of an individual artist while Promises showcases young galleries and emerging artists. Digital mapping and video art are given pride of place with monumental projections on the façade of the Grand Palais.
The 5th edition of the “Springtime in Paris” programme of visits for collectors and art professionals at the end of March highlights the dynamism of the Parisian art scene, in particular with several new contemporary art spaces and architecture that are defining the new face of the French capital in the 21st Century.
South Korea Guest of Honour After Singapore and Southeast Asia, Art Paris Art Fair confirms its established identity as a fair that looks to the East. In 2016, South Korea will be guest of honour, an invitation that comes in the context of the celebration of France-Korea year that will offer an exceptional insight into contemporary artistic production from this Asian country. Korean exhibition curator Sang-A CHUN has been asked to oversee the South Korea Guest of Honour project which promises
to highlight the rich diversity of artistic creation form the “land of the morning calm,” from the emergence of a specific contemporary art scene in the 1980s to the effervescence of the present day. The programme includes a selection of galleries from Seoul, Busan and Daegu, talks, performances, video screenings…
South Korea Guest of Honour at Art Paris Art Fair 2016 is part of the official programme of France-Korea Year 2015-2016 (www.anneefrancecoree.com).
Sang-A CHUN : South Korean-born exhibition curator Sang-A CHUN works between Paris and Seoul. After graduating in Aesthetics and the Science and Technology of Art from the University of Paris VIII, she has organized and curated some 50 exhibitions since 2000. She has also developed and conducted a number of public art and culture projects (sculpture, interventions and performances.) She was notably responsible for: “Making & Being” at the Korean Cultural Centre in Brussels, “Plastic Nature,” at Vanessa Quang Gallery in Paris, “Point Virgule / Seung-hye Hong & Felice Vanini” at the Korean Cultural Centre in Paris, “Paradise / Jeong-hwa Choi,” at Point Éphémère in Paris, “Effets Mythologiques / Kang-hyun Ahn,” at the
In Famous Carousel Festival at the Palais de Tokyo, the Centre Pompidou etc., “The Sentimental / Seung-hye Hong,” at the Nuit Blanche in Paris, “The Poetics of Space” with Daniel Buren, François Morrelet, Felice Varini and Stéphane Dafflon at the Whanki Museum in Seoul… Since 2011, she has been in charge of contemporary art exhibitions at the Korean Cultural Centre in Paris as well as working independently on projects in a variety of art spaces.

Art Paris Art Fair fait son retour au Grand Palais, du 31 mars au 3 avril 2016. Pendant quatre jours, plus de 58.000 personnes feront le déplacement pour découvrir 143 galeries de vingt pays différents. Cette année, Art Paris Art Fair fait une part belle à la création coréenne ! Et comme une bonne nouvelle ne vient jamais seule, nous avons des invitations à vous offrir !
Comme chaque année, le Grand Palais accueille l’art contemporain, dans toutes ses formes, pour Art Paris Art Fair, une foire dédiée à la création contemporaine internationale et aux jeunes talents. Cette année, la Corée du Sud est l’invitée d’honneur de l’édition 2016, avec le commissariat laissé à Sang-A CHUN.
Ainsi, avec 80 artistes sud-coréens représentés à Art Paris Art Fair, on retrouve aussi bien la génération des tous premiers modernistes comme Ungno Lee, au carrefour des traditions orientales et occidentales que les maîtres de l’art abstrait liés à la mouvance de Dansaekhwa, art mystérieux et poétique du monochrome coréen dont les ambassadeurs les plus connus seront présents comme Lee Ufan, Myeong-Ro Youn sont des incontournables de la scène artistique internationale.
Portés par le succès des éditions de la foire Art Paris Art Fair, l’édition 2016 appuie son initiative d’ouverture à l’international, en mettant à l’honneur plus de 70 galeries étrangères, sur les 143 galeries rassemblées sous la coupole du Grand Palais.
Ainsi, pour citer des galeries participantes : A. Galerie (Paris), Gallery Roza Azora (Moscou), Nadja Brykina Gallery (Zürich), Hua Gallery (Londres), Mario Mauroner Contemporary Art (Vienne/Salzbourg, Galerie Nathalie Obadia (Paris/Bruxelles), Galerie VU’ (Paris), comme Daniel Templon (Paris), Sundaram Tagore (New York, Hong Kong, Singapour) et Flowers (Londres, New York).
Cette année, la foire explore les régions européennes et présente des galeties de villes singulières internationales à l’instar des galeries Bob Gysin (Zurich), Art Bartschi & Cie (Genève), La Balsa Arte (Bogota), Silk Road (Téhéran), Studio Visconti (Milan) et le retour de Ditesheim & Maffei Fine Art (Neuchatel) et régionales, avec trois galeries de Marseille (Galerie Didier Gouvernnec Ogor, Béa-Ba et Najuma), deux galeries bordelaises (DX et Xénon), une enseigne lilloise (Cédric Bacqueville), lyonnaise (Françoise Besson), rennaise (Oniris) et une galerie strasbourgeoise (Galerie Jean-Pierre Ritsch Fisch).
Art Paris Art Fair est aussi l’occasion de découvrir des Solo Show, une vingtaine d’expositions personnelles, disséminées dans la foire, qui permettent au public de découvrir ou de redécouvrir des artistes modernes, contemporains ou émergents grâce à une exposition personnelle, cette année le syrien Fadi Yazigi chez Tanit, le peintre français Damien Cabanes à la Galerie Eric Dupont pour ne citer qu’eux.
Enfin, la foire Art Paris Art Fair dévoile ses Promesses, sa sélection de 10 jeunes galeries, dont 50 Golborne (Londres), ART’LOFT Lee-Bauwens Gallery (Bruxelles), Bildhalle (Zurich), Galerie Béa-Ba (Marseille), Brandt Gallery (Amsterdam), Espace L (Genève),Galerie Virginie Louvet (Paris), sélectionnées pour leur caractère novateur.
