To pierwsza tak du\u017ca wystawa obraz\u00f3w i obiekt\u00f3w ceramicznych m\u0142odej artystki krakowskiej \u2013 Agaty Kus. Prezentujemy na niej ponad 100 prac z lat 2009\u20132019. Kilkana\u015bcie z nich powsta\u0142o specjalnie na t\u0119 okazj\u0119.
\nTytu\u0142 ekspozycji nawi\u0105zuje do The Rocky Horror Picture Show, ameryka\u0144skiego musicalu filmowego z 1975 roku. W ten spos\u00f3b artystka sugeruje, \u017ce mamy do czynienia z wystaw\u0105 prac, kt\u00f3re mog\u0105 budzi\u0107 sprzeczne emocje \u2013 niepok\u00f3j, ale tak\u017ce rozbawienie. Jej kolorowe obrazy \u2013 podobnie jak opowie\u015bci filmowe \u2013 tworz\u0105 z\u0142o\u017cone narracje pe\u0142ne ludzi, zwierz\u0105t i obiekt\u00f3w. W efekcie powstaje z\u0142o\u017cona i nieoczywista narracja. Te ostatnie wyst\u0119puj\u0105 w roli symbolu, sugeruj\u0105c okre\u015blone cechy cz\u0142owieka. Dodatkowy kontekst interpretacyjny pojawia si\u0119 w tytule pracy b\u0105d\u017a ha\u015ble czy fragmencie wiersza namalowanym na obrazie.
\nAgata Kus (ur. 1987) uprawia malarstwo i rysunek, tworzy kola\u017c i wideo. W 2012 roku uko\u0144czy\u0142a studia na Wydziale Malarstwa Akademii Sztuk Pi\u0119knych w Krakowie w pracowni Leszka Misiaka. W 2018 roku obroni\u0142a doktorat na tej uczelni. Zwyci\u0119\u017cczyni Mi\u0119dzynarodowego Biennale Sztuki Medi\u00f3w WRO 2015, w 2017 roku nominowana do Nagrody \u201eSpojrzenia\u201d Deutsche Banku i Zach\u0119ty \u2013 Narodowej Galerii Sztuki, w latach 2011 i 2018 finalistka Nagrody Fundacji Vordemberge-Gildewart. Jej prace znajduj\u0105 si\u0119 w kolekcjach Muzeum Sztuki Wsp\u00f3\u0142czesnej w Krakowie MOCAK oraz Muzeum Narodowego w Gda\u0144sku, a tak\u017ce w licznych kolekcjach prywatnych.<\/p>\n

This is the first major showcase of paintings and ceramics by the young Krakow artist Agata Kus. Over 100 artworks spanning the 2009\u20132019 period will be displayed at the exhibition. About a dozen of them were created specifically for this occasion.
\nThe title of the exhibition is a reference to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a 1975 American musical film. This way the artist implies that here we are dealing with the kind of art that has the capacity to stir contradictory emotions \u2013 anxiety, but also glee. Her colourful paintings \u2013 much like cinematic tales \u2013 create complex, often contextually interrelated narratives, replete with people, animals and objects.
\nAgata Kus\u2019s paintings are characterised by confident and energetic brush strokes. Her expressive way of painting produces collages in which the artist juxtaposes different freeze-frames, which she selects and compiles intuitively. Resulting combinations present a multi-layered and unconventional narrative. The artist\u2019s jumping-off points are movie stills and pictures found on the Internet or in a family album, taken by her or her friends; her key motifs are people and animals. The latter serve as symbols, hinting at certain human character traits. The titles of the artworks or fragments of poems incorporated in the paintings like catchphrases provide additional context for interpretation.
\nAgata Kus (born in 1987) is a painter and a drawing, collage and video artist. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (the Faculty of Painting, Professor Leszek Misiak\u2019s studio) in 2012. She received her PhD from the same university in 2018. At the International Media Art Biennale WRO 2015, Agata Kus won the Grand Prize. In 2017, she was nominated for the Views Deutsche Bank and Zach\u0119ta \u2013 National Gallery of Art Award. In 2011 and 2018, she was shortlisted for the Vordemberge-Gildewart Foundation Award. Her works may be found in the collections of the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow and the National Museum in Gda\u0144sk as well as in many private collections.<\/p>\n
